The Holistic Moms Network is first and foremost a community for parents to network and to find other like-minded moms and dads with whom they can share information, resources, and friendship. Among our members are many holistic health providers and holistic business owners, including chiropractors, herbalists, massage therapists, reiki practitioners and much, much more! We welcome all holistic parents who are also practitioners into our community and hope that they will share in the many benefits that HMN has to offer.
We do not, however, allow for direct marketing to our members either through our email loop, website, or mailing list. We encourage all health care providers or holistic business owners who join our organization as members to introduce themselves on their chapter email loop both as parents and professionals.
However, in order to link our members with the holistic resources they seek, we encourage holistic health care practitioners and providers to become Sponsors of our organization. Our Sponsorship program can help you raise brand awareness and increase usage of your products and/or services among a growing, targeted audience of educated, savvy, holistic-minded mothers and their families. Sponsorship is open to holistic-minded practitioners, manufacturers, or direct business owners who share our Vision, Purpose, and Values. Most chapters invite professional guest speakers from the community to teach the group about alternative health and parenting issues. Local chapters may also offer playgroups and additional clubs or activities, such as Moms Nights Out, Mom-and-Tot Outings, and more! HMN was incorporated in October of 2003 and received its 501(c)(3) designation in June of 2004. Today the Holistic Moms Network is opening chapters across the United States and has a diverse and rapidly growing membership.

The Beginning
I was on a conference call today for new leaders of Holistic Moms Network. I'm so excited I can't sleep, so many thoughts in my head! Silent doubts creep into my feverish brain that I strive to push away as I nurse the drowsy, teething-almost-toddler at my side. I'm wondering if I'm up to it. Will this be another project that I can't complete? Is there a need here for a Holistic Moms local chapter, with all the great Yahoo groups I've found already thriving? I decide to get out of bed and start working on the chapter preparations.
My first and only HMN meeting so far was the Open House kickoff event for the Tri-Valley East SF Bay Area Chapter, right before we moved down to SD. I had met Katherine Havener (http://www.consciousparent.org/) at a LLL meeting, and she was one of the Co-Leaders forming the chapter. Their meeting was such a success and I was so inspired by them, their stories and what they had planned for the rest of the year. I went home to find a chapter in San Diego to join but Lo and Behold! None to be found! So I joined the National Group and applied to be a Leader. With the move and the baby, the holidays fast approached and my mentor, Tammi Lyons, recommended that we start the chapter off in January. So begin the preparations!
